Our Story

The DoorHolders is made of up four musicians, 3 brothers and a close friend.  Front man and lead guitarist, Caleb Butler and the drummer Seth, are brothers who have played together in various bands and on worship teams for 15 years.  These two were part of a local Contemporary Christian band for 7 years, and with this band they recorded and released a demo EP and one full length album.  Over the years they have played at many local festivals, events, and churches such as The Relay for Life and The Cherry Blossom Festival.  They have opened  for  groups such as Jimmy Needham, Sidewalk Prophets, Andrew Carlton, the Noah Cleveland Band, Chris Sligh and The Museum.  In the fall of 2009, after hearing a sermon preached by Louie Giglio, God started to move Caleb and Seth's hearts in a different direction. In January of 2010, they left that band and along with their younger brother and bassist Zach and good friend and keys player Matt formed the band, The DoorHolders.

Zach had played with his brothers over the years until March of 2006 when he sustained life threatening injuries caused from a tragic car accident.  During the accident he was ejected from the vehicle as it flipped across a cow pasture.  He was eventually found about 90 feet away from the overturned vehicle.  His injuries were so bad that he wasn’t expected to live to make it to the hospital.  He had multiple orthopedic injuries along with a severe traumatic brain injury.  His health situation was touch and go for many days and doctors warned the family that there was no way to predict the outcome of who he would be or what he would be able to do when he woke up, if he woke up.  But God in His infinite grace and mercy showed up and has restored Zach to 100% health in mind and body.  He has had many surgeries and has some aches and pains but restored!!  Zach was able to join with his brothers again on worship teams off and on from 2008-2009 and in the fall of 2009 returned to the full time position of playing the bass!  The car accident and Zach’s subsequent recovery has sealed the brothers bond of love for each other and has given them the burning desire to see salvation come to as many people as they can get the Gospel to by following closely after Jesus, lifting up His name in song and making Him famous throughout the world!

Joining the guys in January of 2011 at the Passion Conference in Atlanta, GA was their good friend Matt Schnider .  He had been fervently searching and seeking God and it was during this conference that he was able to gain some spiritual clarity for the first time in his life.  Finally, he heard the voice of God and knew he must follow Him and do what He has commanded and that is to make disciples of all nations and being a part of The DoorHolders was where God wanted him to be.

The combination of these four guy’s incredible musical abilities and their love for God make for some awesome heart felt songs that will lead you into the presence of the King of Kings!

In March of 2011 we attended the Passion LIFT conference for worship leaders in Atlanta, GA.  It was during this conference that God spoke to each of our hearts individually concerning the City of Macon and the Middle Georgia area.  On the way home from the conference each of us started to talk about what God had done in our lives throughout the weekend and it became clear that each of us had been given the same vision; to provide a monthly event free of charge to the public with no agenda but to lift up the name of Jesus and declare Him God of this city!  We were led in our Spirits that the Night of Worship should be an event that would cross denominational lines and bring about unity in the body by using a variety of worship leaders and musicians from throughout the area and should declare the message of Salvation and the love of God to all who attend.   The first Night of Worship was held in May of 2011 and continued for ten consecutive months until they took time off to work on their first EP.

Early in 2012 we started writing, sometimes re-writing, and composing newly written and previously written songs.  We thankfully entered the studio in March!  We were incredibly excited and humbled about finally producing a product that was original to us and that expressed the journey we had been on with God--one we hoped would bring Him glory for all He has done in our lives!  Our hearts overflowed with praise and thankfulness!

Finally, with artwork complete, songs mixed and mastered, we sent them off for duplication!  On September 8, 2012 our first original EP entitled, "Holding On To You" was released!

In the fall of 2012, we embarked on our first official tour that took us to events in Tennessee, Ohio, upstate New York and New Jersey.  In January of 2013 we hit the ground running by serving at winter DNOW's and camps.  In the Spring, we hosted and played a community wide event supporting the End It Movement.  We also had the honor of playing the late night session at Aquire the Fire in Atlanta.  Throughout the summer we served at many churches, camps and events within Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana!  Some of our greatest joys came this past winter while leading worship for a ladies retreat!  There have been so many moments within this past year that could serve as THE "highlight" moment but there can be nothing greater than seeing people come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior!  What an honor and privilege to have been part of some of these moments!

This past year has also had it's many trials and challenges.  Just before we left for a youth camp in Texas our family received some not so good news concerning the health of one of our family members.  This was a trying time for all of us, but while we were serving in Texas God spoke to Caleb concerning these matters and took him to the Bible to read about the lives of Joseph and Job.  It was through these sweet moments with the Lord that the song "Seasons" was born.  We believe God breathed that song through our trial to help others through theirs.  "Seasons" was released as a single and video in December of 2013 and we pray it blesses and encourages many!

Looking forward to 2014!

Lifting up the name of Jesus!
