Our Story

The DoorHolders began as a band made of up four musicians, 3 brothers and a close friend.  Front man and lead guitarist, Caleb Butler and the drummer Seth, are brothers who have played together in various bands and on worship teams for 15 years.  These two were part of a local Contemporary Christian band for 7 years, and with this band they recorded and released a demo EP and one full length album.  Over the years they have played at many local festivals, events, and churches.  In the fall of 2009, after hearing a sermon preached by Louie Giglio, God started to move Caleb and Seth's hearts in a different direction. In January of 2010, they left that band and along with their younger brother and bassist Zach, good friend and keys player Matt formed the band, The DoorHolders.

Zach had played with his brothers over the years until March of 2006 when he sustained life threatening injuries caused from a tragic car accident.  During the accident he was ejected from the vehicle as it flipped across a cow pasture.  He was eventually found about 90 feet away from the overturned vehicle.  His injuries were so severe that he wasn’t expected to live to make it to the hospital.  He had multiple orthopedic injuries along with a traumatic brain injury.  His health situation was touch and go for many days and doctors warned that there was no way to predict the outcome of who he would be or what he would be able to do when he woke up, if he woke up.  He has had many surgeries and has some aches and pains but restored!!  Zach was able to join with his brothers again on worship teams off and on from 2008-2009 and in the fall of 2009 returned to the full time position of playing the bass!

Joining the guys in January of 2011 at the Passion Conference in Atlanta, GA was their good friend Matt Schnider .  He had been fervently searching and seeking God and it was during this conference that he was able to gain some spiritual clarity.  He heard the voice of God and knew he must follow Him and do what He has commanded and that is to make disciples of all nations.  It was clear that being a part of The DoorHolders was where God wanted him to be.

In March of 2011, the guys attended the Passion LIFT conference for worship leaders in Atlanta, GA.  It was during this conference that God spoke to each of their hearts individually concerning the City of Macon and the Middle Georgia area.  On the way home from the conference they talked about what God had done in their lives throughout the weekend and it became clear that they had been given the same vision.  They were to provide a monthly event free of charge to the public with no agenda but to lift up the name of Jesus!  They wanted this event to cross denominational lines and bring about unity in the body of Christ by using a variety of worship leaders and musicians from throughout the area.  The first Night of Worship was held in May of 2011 and continued for ten consecutive months until they took time off to work on their first EP.

2012 brought many new, exciting adventures.  Early in the year the writing and re-writing began! In March they entered the studio.  They were incredibly excited and humbled about finally producing an original product that expressed the journey they had been on with God--one they hoped would bring Him glory for all He has done!  Finally, with artwork complete, songs mixed and mastered, "Holding On To You" was released on September 8!

In the fall they embarked on their first official tour that took them to events in Tennessee, Ohio, upstate New York and New Jersey.  The momentum continued into 2013 they hit the ground running by serving at winter DNOW's and camps.  In the Spring, they hosted and played a community wide event supporting the End It Movement.  They also had the honor of playing the late night session at an Aquire the Fire event in Atlanta.  Throughout the summer they served at many churches, camps and events within Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana!  There were so many moments within 2013 that could serve as THE "highlight" moment but there was none greater than seeing people come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior!  What an honor and privilege to have been part of some of these moments!

2013 also had it's many trials and challenges.  Just before the team left to serve at a youth camp in Texas, The Butler family received some not so good news concerning the health of one of their family members.  This was a trying time. While serving in Texas, God spoke to Caleb concerning these matters and took him to the Bible to read about the lives of Joseph and Job.  It was through these sweet moments with the Lord that the song "Seasons" was born.  God breathed that song through this trial to help others through theirs.  "Seasons" was released as a single and video in December of 2013.

The DoorHolders and 2014 equalled awesome!  Each month was filled with opportunities to share God's love and serve others.  The guys traveled to Florida for the first time as a band, not once but twice!  The guys ministered throughout the southeast!  The ministry added more lights to the show and purchased new sound equipment.  Throughout the year The Lord made it quite evident that the ministry was ready to expand.

In September a tour RV was purchased to make being on the road a little more comfortable!  It has already been a huge blessing!  The RV will allow the ministry to be able to go into more places to share the Gospel and serve other communities in Jesus' name!

This expansion also includes some new exciting adventures!  We are very excited to announce the addition of a recording studio!  Wake Studios will provide top of the line production unlike any other studio south of Atlanta!  There will be a division of the studio that will produce music videos and media to help your band stand out from the rest!  And, if you like that DoorHolder guitar sound, you can have that by purchasing an amp from the newest boutique amp company, Full Circle Amps!

2015 has also brought with it a change in the band ministry.  On January 1, Zach left the band to persue other interests.  He will be greatly missed!  No worries though, most of our live bass licks will be brought to you by our great friend, David Cromer!  David has been a part of DoorHolders ministies for the last few years and we are so thankful for him.

Looking forward to serving Jesus in 2015!

Lifting up the name of Jesus!
